Former Jubilee Party interim vice-chair David Murathe and ODM party leader Raila Odinga will hold a joint campaign rally for Kibra parliamentary seat candidate Imran Okoth.
Murathe confirmed the joint campaign rally to drum up support for the ODM party candidate will be held.
He said they are still working on the day and venue as the campaign to succeed Imran’s elder brother the late Ken Okoth intensify as it enters the home stretch.
“The joint rally ahead of the mini poll slated for November 7 is against Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga in the spirit of the handshake,’’ he pointed out.
Murathe said the joint rally for Imran to succeed his elder brother Ken is testimony of the existence of the hand shake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila.
He spoke to Weekly Citizen when checking out at Whitesands beach hotel after attending this year’s Mashujaa Day national cerebration held at Mama Ngina Drive Water Front in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.
The former Jubilee Party interim vice-chair said he will rally party troops to ensure the ODM candidate succeeds his elder brother.
Murathe’s statement was echoed by Raila in a telephone conversation with our reporter.
Raila confirmed Murathe’s statement saying they are on modalities to hold a joint campaign for Imran’s candidature.
During a wedding of Mombasa politician Suleiman Shahbal’s adopted daughter held at Kilua beach hotel he dismissed Jubilee’s candidate Macdonald Mariga.
He refuted claims the Jubilee party has a candidate for the mini poll insisting Mariga is Deputy President William Ruto’s candidate.
