President Uhuru, Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto have come out to celebrate Eliud Kipchoge’s breath-taking victory in style after the decorated athlete completed the Ineos 1:59 Marathon in 1:59:40.
DP ruto who was at the finish line to receive the athletics legend could not hide his joy and was captured on camera joining in the celebrations after Kipchoge achieved what many thought would be impossible.
Through State House Kenya, President Uhuru celebrated Eliud stating that he had made Kenya proud and he is an inspiration to other people to dream big.
“Hearty congratulations Eliud. You’ve done it my brother; you’ve made history and made Kenya super proud while at it. Your win today, against all odds, will inspire tens of future generations to dream big and to aspire for greatness. We celebrate you and wish you God’s blessings.” – President Uhuru Kenyatta
Former Prime Minister Raila Oding also joined the celebrations, congratulating King Choge via twitter saying; This is the stuff of history @EliudKipchoge You captured the imagination of the whole world before this great feat and it will continue for a long time. Congratulations on becoming the first human to run a sub 2 hour marathon. Kenya is greater because of you!
William Ruto wrote; A blistering 1.59.40! Congratulations @EliudKipchoge for the historic achievement in shattering the sub-two-hour barrier for the marathon; you are arguably the greatest runner of all time.
