After successfully leading the United States women’s national football team to retain the Women’s World Cup in France, co-captain Megan Rapinoe has said she will not be going to White House.

The Golden boot winner has been at loggerheads with US President Donald Trump and had already earlier said she would not visit ” the f***ing White House” before lifting the World Cup.

Rapinoe has openly spoken about her identity as a gay woman and has never shied away from the conversation and one could easily imagine why she would not dare set foot in Trump’s domain.

“”I would not go to the White House and every teammate I have talked with won’t go, ” Rapinoe said while being interviewed on CNN.

The US women’s soccer team co-captain bagged six goals and two assists to emerge the tournaments top scorer after the US defeated Netherlands 2-0 in the final in Lyon.

When asked by CNN’s Anderson Cooper what her message to the US President was, Rapinoe told Trump to stop excluding people and that he needed to do better for everyone.

“Your message is excluding people. You’re excluding me, You’re excluding people that look like me, you’re excluding people of colour, you’re excluding Americans that maybe support you,

“You have an incredible responsibility as the chief of this country to take care of every single person and you need to do better for everyone,” she said.

Trump had earlier hit out at Rapinoe following her White House comments, and told her “to finish the job” before she could talk.

He further cautioned the US football star not to disrespect her country, the White House or the US flag, especially owing to how much had been done for the national soccer team.

Interestingly, it was only four years ago that ex-US president Barack Obama welcomed the women’s football team to the White House to honour them on winning the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

During the visit that the team gladly obliged to, Obama was even gifted a jersey that had the number 44 on it, inspired by him being the 44th president.

However, this time, the team is likely skip out on the invite and snub White House owing to Trump’s presence.
