Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is yet to taste action this season for Spurs and despite being named in the Champions League squad, there is much reason to suspect he may be gone by January.

The purchase of Tanguy Ndombele and Mauricio Pochettino’s preference preference for Ben Davies and Harry Winks in the the middle of the park, leaves Wanyama with limited playing time and maximum bench warming.

Football Scotland reports the Kenyan international was recently linked with a move to Club Brugge just before transfer deadline, however, the deal fell through; now his former club Celtic want him.

“There was interest but it never got off the ground. Could we look at it again in January? We will have to wait and see,” Lennon said.

However, Neil Lennon, who worked closely with Wanyama before the Harambee Stars skipper left for the Hoopers to join the Saints of Southampton, said the Kenyan might be too expensive.

“We might not want to with the balance of the squad right now, as well as the affordability,” the Celtic boss said.

The 27-year-old joined Celtic in 2011 from Beerschot for just £900,000 before being sold to Southampton for a then record fee of £12.5 million in 2013.

He then moved to Spurs in 2016 where he has greatly contributed to Mauricio Pochettino’s UCL journey to Madrid.

TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Wanyama said he will be forever grateful for the massive role former Celtic manager Neil Lennon played in getting him to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2018 final.

The Tottenham midfielder said his former gaffer instilled in him the belief that he could play top flight football with the best in the business and helped him realise his full potential.
