Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives have arrested Kisumu county MCA Pamela Odhiambo.
The Manyatta B ward representative was arrested on Wednesday for forgery and presenting a false document to IEBC during the 2017 General Election.
The forged document was a completion letter from KCA University.
Deputy Western Kenya Region EACC manager Aura Chibole said they have been investigating the matter since 2017.
This follows various complaints by the public over Odhiambo’s academic credentials.
Chibole said KCA University confirmed the degree was a fake.
He added that the investigation officers were closing in on another suspect, a former employee at the institution who will be soon arrested and charged in court.
Chibole said the MCA will be arraigned in a Kakamega court tomorrow.
“We can not arraign her in a Kisumu court for security reasons following what we witnessed when she was being arrested,” he said.
The detectives had a hard time controlling surging crowds during the arrest.
Odhiambo is serving her second term as an ODM MCA.
After the 2013 elections, she was nominated to the assembly on an ODM ticket.
