Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen are among Jubilee leaders who have welcomed the resignation of David Murathe as the party vice chairman.
Waiguru, while referring to Murathe, said reckless utterances can often lead to unnecessary divisions and chaos.
“While freedom of expression is a protected right, incivility has no place in present-day Kenya or within the ruling Jubilee Party. We welcome the timely resignation of Murathe as a matter of course,” she tweeted.
Murathe had told Waiguru she could have the vice chairman job when she first called for Jubilee Party elections to appoint leaders with “legitimate mandate”
Murathe took up the vice chairman position in an interim capacity following the party’s failure to hold elections.

Waiguru yesterrday tweeted, “.. #Muratheresigns… it’s about time! Viva Jubilee viva. Now Jubilee elections,.”
Murkomen, on the other hand, applauded President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for having a hand in the resignation of Murathe.
“Congratulations to Jubilee Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy Party Leader for restoring order into the party. Tuko Pamoja,” he said.
Murathe who resigned on Sunday said his continued stay in the ruling outfit is no longer tenable.
But he maintained that his position that DP William Ruto is not fit to lead the country still stands.

But Kenyans on Twitter would not take this lightly as they criticised the duo.
“I am sure Murathe wanted to resign from Jubilee without hurting Uhuru’s feelings. Now he is free,” @njengaKI said.
@JosephRiaga2 said, “It’s too early to celebrate dude…..your man is partyless Jubilee has it’s owners.”
“Jubilee is coming to an end all officials are going to resign,” @Salama59819109 said.
“I didn’t know jubilee party was disorganised that it had to be restored back in order,” @kenyandemocrat said.
@murigidavis said “Order gani? He was just laying the foundation.. Ruto Mt. Kenya kura hapati.”
Referring to Waiguru, @gauogilbert said she should be taking a lesson on how real men resign instead of asking for lighter duties.
During Waiguru’s term as the NYS CS she asked for lighter duties after a scandal hit the service.
“When your position as CS was no longer tenable you opted to rather die with light duties than resign…the man just resigned! You should be taking lessons, not yapping,” @gauogilbert said.
@ochity said, “What is reckless in saying the obvious, after 10 years surely what new will DP Ruto offer to Kenyans if not a double dose of misery and public theft looting.”
“No division but the truth should be said. What about the NYS issue while you were CS Devolution?” @VincentsKhayo9 said.
@RealClifford_ said “Your ulterior motive is at large. Murathe hasn’t just resigned???? Your camp is a hunted lot.”
On Saturday, Murathe threatened to move the Supreme Court to seek an advisory opinion on whether Ruto should be allowed to run for the highest office after serving two terms.
