Generous decision by Rongai landlady to waive the rent for her tenants in January has amazed many Kenyans.
In a viral video, the landlady identified as Martha Wanjiru, thanked her tenants for their support and explained how they have helped her business grow including paying her loans on time.
The 37 year old mother of one visits Kenya once per year but this time, she decided to do something different. She organized a party for her tenants and a plan for them to watch world cup together.
“When you live with people for such along time,they are not only your tenants but family ,for a very long time I have depended on them to pay rents so that I can also pay my loans. Why can’t they also depend on me for this time and be able to pay other things,’’ Wanjiru said.

According to her, she views her tenants as her family and friends and thought waiving rent would be the best Christmas gift for them.
Martha who lives in Germany said that she built the 15 one bedroom units after her father advised her to ensure she builds something back at home so that she could have a sustainable source of income.
“Jukumu la kuwa baba ni mzito Kwa sababu lazima uhakikisha watu wanapata Chakula na hata karo,itasaidia pakubwa.” Victor Mayaka a tenant said.
