Wiper dismisses reports of rebellion in party

Wiper on Thursday denied reports that a rebellion is brewing in the party and its Ukambani stronghold.

The Executive Council said the party’s grassroots support and the turnout during the Kamba Leaders Convention themed Koma 2 declaration showed a united organisation ready to lead the nation.

“We solved the issue during the Koma 2 dialogue and we can’t even think of a rebellion. People came in large numbers from Makueni, Kitui and many other areas,” council member Chirau Mwakwere said.

Council members including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti met at the party headquarters to deliberate on the declarations of Koma 2 forum that was held last week Friday.

Koma 2 forum was held at Kamba Primary School in Matungulu in Machakos to discuss the way forward on the issues affecting the community and country.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka dismissed his critics at the meeting.

“Let’s save the country. If you have principles you are called names. I’m not only a watermelon but Uncle Steve, uncle of all youths across the country going forward,” Kalonzo said.

“We fully support the Building Bridges Initiative as we believe it offers a great opportunity for an all-inclusive and one Kenya. We also support constitutional reforms,” Makwere, Kenya’s former ambassador to Tanzania, said.

Wiper also agreed to work with other parties to strengthen its political activities ahead of the 2022 polls.
