Xiaomi, the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has finally entered the race with a stable version of its custom interface, MIUI 14, based on Android 13. The update is currently only available for the Xiaomi 12, but it is expected to roll out to other compatible models in the near future.
While Xiaomi may have been a little slow to the game compared to other smartphone manufacturers, the company is now joining the ranks of Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and others who have already released updates to their custom interfaces based on Android 13.
The update brings all the new features of MIUI 14, as well as those introduced by Android 13. To access it, users must be registered with the Mi Pilot program. The deployment is gradual, and not all Xiaomi 12 owners have the option to download the update at this time. It’s worth noting that this is still a beta version, so software bugs may be present.
Xiaomi’s Lag Behind Competitors While Xiaomi is finally joining the Android 13 race, it’s clear that the company has lagged behind its competitors. Samsung was the first to deploy the new version of One UI, and other manufacturers such as Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo have already released updates to their custom interfaces as well.
