The Government has pledged to help and support the victims of the West Pokot landslide that has left more than twenty four people dead and several others critically injured following landslides and floods that occurred at several villages in the County.
Deputy President William Ruto condoled with the affected families adding that a multi-agency emergency team has already been deployed to go help in the search and rescue mission.
The Friday night heavy left a trail of destruction at Muruny Bridge along the Kitale-Lodwar road in West Pokot County with Nyarkulian, Muino and Parua villages almost wiped out.
West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello said more people could be trapped in the avalanche but added that rescue efforts are ongoing despite the rain making all the roads impassable.

Ruto who was in Laikipia County condoled with the affected families saying the Government has put in place a rescue emergency team that will help avert more deaths on the ground.
Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo who visited the area called on the army and the Kenya Red Cross society to help the affected families.
Pokot South MP David Pkosing called for heightened rescue operations fearing a rise in the death toll as more that 4 villages have been affected.
Efforts to recover the bodies trapped in rubble is currently ongoing with the injured taken to Kapenguria Referral hospital. ENDS
