The wrangles engulfing African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa Nyandarua South Diocese is far from over.
Archbishop Fredrick Wangómbe has declared war on Bishop Simon Muhoro who is allied to Archbishop Julius Njoroge. Njoroge who does not see eye-to-eye with Wang’ombe has named Muhoro to be incharge of Nyandarua South Diocese.
On the other side, Wang’ombe has installed Bishop John Maina to be in charge of the troubled diocese.
Recent court rulings allowed Muhoro to operate in the region a move that caught Wang’ombe off guard. He is said to have summoned those allied to him and held talks for hours on how to counter the court ruling. Insiders at the meetings say unlike others where opening prayers are done, this time round, it was straight to the point and the idea to tame Njoroge camp.
The war started in 2018 when Muhoro was appointed to head the diocese by Bishop Njoroge.
A bitter Wang’ombe moved to court to stop the matter. Wang’ombe lost the first case that was filed at Engineer town court. After the defeat, he moved to Nyahururu High Court but also lost the case with costs. Insiders well versed with the case reveal, Njoroge lawyers want Wang’ombe to pay Sh15 million as legal costs. Nyahururu High Court delivered ruling on June, 11, this year.
Recently, Muhoro was at Cuma AIPCA church in Kinangop subcounty where he celebrated the court ruling and declared he will effectively perform his duties in the diocese.
At Cuma AIPCA Church with Muhoro was Moses Gitonga, the powerful personal assistant to Archbishop Njoroge. Wang’ombe faction claim, Gitonga is the secret face behind Archibishop Njoroge and runs the show behind the scenes. To them, Gitonga has been the bottleneck in the unity talks and influences rivals not to cooperate.
For now Wang’ombe has pitched tent and taken over AIPCA Engineer Cathedral to be his operation zone. Wang’ombe has roots in Rwanyambo in Kingangop.
He has called on his followers to back Bishop Maina since unlike Bishop Wang’ombe he comes from the region.
To him, any Bishop to be station in Nyandarua south diocese must have his backing.
Insiders say, Wang’ombe is wounded and is asking for a truce moreso fearing the legal costs and implications in the two court cases.
