The 4th edition of the Women Sterling Basketball Gold Cup has been set for this Thursday to Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium.
12 teams from Universities and Colleges are set to square it in the four day competition.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio Sports Brian Mboya the Chief Executive Officer Sterling said that the tournament is to identify and nurture talent for the growth of the game in the country.
“This is our fourth edition and as always our main purpose is to tap into unexposed talents within our colleges and Universities talents in the under 23 category,” he said.
The four day tournament brings together the top 12 Under 23 Ladies Teams drawn from various Universities and colleges.
Among the teams to take part in the tournament include Strathmore University, United States International University, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Strathmore University, Zetech University, African Nazarene University and University Of Nairobi.
Ghetto Radio Limited company is among the partners of the event and according the the CEO Julius Owino the company has come in as a way of Empowering the Girl Child.
‘We were approached to partner in this noble tournament which has a great history and as a youth station we found it appropriate to be involved,” he asserted.
Apart from being the media partner the Station will be on the ground to provide entertainment to the thousands of fans who are expected to throng the event.
Beverage Company Coca Cola are also on board as the Sponsors of the event.
The winner will pocket ksh 100,000, while the first and the second runners up will receive Ksh 50,000 and Ksh 30,000 in that order.
