There were mixed reactions in Kibwezi East constituency over a photo of a woman sitting in a compromising position with a Kitui politician with a face that was allegedly superimposed with that of area MP Jessica Mbalu.
The photo set high political high mood in the constituency with her opponents who are said to have been behind the dirty games buying thousands of copies to distribute to locals. There was a frenzy at Athusi stage in Nairobi with agents of her political rivals sending thousands of copies of the weekly to distribute across the constituency.
Targeted towns by her rivals included Kambu, Machinery, Mtito Andei, Kibwezi town and Thange.
However, the photo, which was also splashed on social media platforms, was strongly dismissed by her supporters accusing her opponents of trying to spoil her name while her rivals celebrated the photo.
Incidentally, the same picture was also doing the rounds but with a different face with some saying this other picture was the original one and it was the one used to photoshop MP Mbalu’s face on it.
At Kambu town, touts said they wanted to use the formula of Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli who once asked that a ruler be brought to measure the thighs size of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa. The touts said the thighs in the picture were too big compared to their MP’s thighs whom they said has cut weight. “Ingawa sijaona paja za mheshmiwa uchi, lakini hii ina mabonde sana. Si yake,” said a tout.
The MP’s supporters say one rival of the MP made the photoshopping and spent Sh50,000 buying the newspaper in Nairobi and hiring boda boda riders to distribute in the entire constituency.
